Woodmead Commercial Property

Woodmead is centrally located alongside the N1 lying adjacent to Rivonia and between the Sandton CBD and Midrand. Four highways converge here, the N1 Western Bypass, the N1 Ben Schoeman, the N3 Eastern Bypass and the M1. The southern terminus of the R55 road is also located here - access is off the Woodmead off-ramp to the M1. Woodmead is one of Johannesburg’s pre-eminent mixed-use hubs. It’s essentially a major residential area dotted with expansive office parks giving it a relaxed commercial sphere.

The prestigious Johannesburg Country Club provides the green lungs to the area. Woodmead has also since emerged as one of Johannesburg’s major retail zones with a number of regional super stores to be found in the area ranging from fashion outlets and sports stores to the colossal warehouse-like Macro store.

With its great variety of restaurants, large open spaces and excellent accessibility, Woodmead is a city within a city that caters for all. Woodmead is now mostly seen as a commercial office suburb with many residents in the northern suburbs flocking to the area to take advantage of the large retail warehouse outlets.  Woodmead is however predominantly made of prime office parks and residential property and is a desirable office locale for large corporations. Several large businesses are located here, including 3M, Accenture and SAP.

Woodmead hardly suffers the usual commercial zone side-effects. This mini retail city is pretty much out of the way, en route to Kyalami and Midrand, and Sunninghill. There are still large tracts of land that have yet to be developed and a sense of country living. Woodmead houses tend to be traditional older examples on large plots of land. Commercial property in Woodmead tends to be modern and chic, with large office blocks and substantial warehouse facilities. Woodmead forms the southern boundary of the Waterfall Office Park which is being developed by the Atterbury Property Group which stretches through to the Allandale turnoff further north in Midrand.

The incredibly popular Pick ‘n Pay - 94.7 cycle challenge starts in Woodmead at the intersection of Woodmead Drive and Van Reenen, the second largest individually timed cycle race in the world. A little further up the drag, en route to Midrand (an alternative back route along the old Pretoria Main Road) is Vodacom’s World of Golf, which helps you improve your golf by practicing every shot imaginable.
